WebFairport Harbor's early history and development is the story of the Western Reserve. The favorable harbor played an important role in the building of this part of the Western Reserve. It was a port of call for boats carrying immigrants from Europe, going to the upper lake regions, and a haven of calm water for boats in a storm. WebTwo office buildings--one thirteen stories the other three-- housed the Anchorage offices of the petroleum company Sohio, formerly the Standard Oil Company of Ohio. These two structures, both covered in granite and exposed concrete aggregate, contained 313,000 square feet of space and were connected by a 40 x 120 foot-long atrium.
