Rithet's bog
WebRithet’s Bog Conservation Area in Saanich consists of a low-lying basin of marshes, wet meadows, and bog forest, and is surrounded by hilly terrain and rock outcrops. Donated by the Guinness family of Britain in 1994, the municipal park protects the last remaining peat bog on Victoria's Saanich Peninsula. The basin is part of the WebRithet's Bog supports a rare forested bog community and provides a wide range of habitat for a number of rare plants and animals. People benefit from this quiet, green haven in the midst of a developed area. Thousands from all over Victoria walk the 2.8 km bog trail to enjoy the wildlife and reconnect with nature.
