As I was cleaning the car, I found a spot where I see some flaking in what must be the clear coat. The layer that's flaking off seems to be razor thin while I heard that the clear coat is usually the thickness of newspaper. In my case I prepped and pained with automotive grade single stage enamel paint. My car is Black which is easy to match but other colors will be harder.
