(also remove the perpendiculars as well) I use this method to portray doorswings for example in SketchUp models.

It is good practice to put them on a “Guide” layer that you can easily switch off. In the meantime you can globally hide all guides via the View menu. It divides the selected edges and hides alternate segments instead of deleting them. The result is that you can select an entire dashed line by double clicking on one end of it.
