WebCajon Valley (Figure 1) is now bounded on the west by the San Andreas Fault, which also cuts the Cajon Valley Fault that forms the western margin of the Cajon Valley Beds. During deposition, the proto-San Andreas Fault was forming in northern California at about 16 Ma (Nicholson et al., 1994). Cajon Pass is a mountain pass between the San Bernardino Mountains to the east and the San Gabriel Mountains to the west in Southern California. Created by the movements of the San Andreas Fault, it has an elevation of 3,777 ft (1,151 m).
